Scrunchies

About Scrunchies

Scrunchies is an independent guide for people in Australia who wear, make or are simply curious about scrunchies. We publish plain-language guides in three areas: types, covering fabrics, sizes and how scrunchies compare with other hair ties; hair care, covering breakage, curly and textured hair, sleeping and sport; and make and care, covering sewing your own, washing, children's safety and sustainable choices. Our free scrunchie maker gives starting measurements for sewing one at home.

Why we exist

This web address was once home to an online hair-accessory store, which later closed. A scrunchie looks like the simplest thing in the world, but the way you tie your hair matters: tight styles worn day after day can damage hair, and small accessories need care around young children. We want to bring the essentials together in one place, grounded in expert and official sources.

How we work

We write every guide in our own words. For health and safety facts, we rely on expert and official sources such as DermNet, the American Academy of Dermatology, the British Association of Dermatologists, ACCC Product Safety and the Federal Register of Legislation, and we list our sources on each page. We never invent statistics, prices, quotes or reviews, and we don't rank or recommend shops or brands.

Independence

Scrunchies (scrunchies.com.au) is an independent information site. We are not a shop, brand, manufacturer or retailer, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any business, brand or organisation named on this site, any previous operator of this domain, or any business with a similar name.

General information only

Our guides are general information and don't take your circumstances into account. They are not medical advice. If you're worried about hair loss or your scalp, see your GP or a dermatologist.
